Racing Incident Report
Race Seven : (814) - THE STEVENSON CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 IGOR STRAVINSKY (K086) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 SZERYNG (K317) B Avdulla Shifted in at the start, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
Raced keenly in the early stages.
After the event B Avdulla reported that after improving to the outside of PATCH OF WATCH upon entering the Home Straight his mount responded only fairly before giving ground over the final 100 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, SZERYNG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 TOURBILLON GOLFER (K320) M F Poon Between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres was badly held up for clear running when unable to improve between SEA SAPPHIRE and PATCH OF WATCH.

Horse No 4 SMILING FALCON (K459) K C Leung Jumped only fairly and then was steadied when crowded between TOURBILLON GOLFER and SZERYNG which shifted in.
Horse No 5 WINNING CIGAR (K422) H Bowman Jumped only fairly and then shortly after was steadied to avoid SEA SAPPHIRE which shifted out.
After the event H Bowman stated that when he felt there was something amiss with his mount near the 200 Metres he eased it down from the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of WINNING CIGAR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, WINNING CIGAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 6 LUCKY MCQUEEN (K064) M Chadwick Crowded at the start.
Horse No 8 TEAM TEAM FOLKS (K302) K Teetan On jumping shifted in and bumped with LUCKY MCQUEEN, resulting in TEAM TEAM FOLKS being taken out and being steadied to avoid PATCH OF WATCH.
Horse No 12 PATCH OF WATCH (H476) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly.

Following a one-off trip from better than midfield, Igor Stravinsky just prevailed after poking his head in front through the centre for a first win at his sixth local start. He was able to build on a second following a downgrade last start. Tourbillon Golfer found one just too good after getting badly held up until near the 100m following a box-seat run. He remains one to follow next season after eye-catching seconds in both starts. Groovy Feeling finished well near the outside for third after making his run five back and one off the fence. He has been in the mix in each of his four Sha Tin 1,200m runs from seven starts. Plunged late in betting, Patch Of Watch kept on for fourth after leading 300m out tracking the speed from gate 11. Sea Sapphire was on his tippy toes 100m out after dictating the run from gate five. He had his chance.
