Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Silver Spurs led and kept on gamely despite getting hampered late by the riderless Spicy So Smart for a first win at his 11th start. He was a well-placed runner down in Class Five, but it was a good training feat to get him right following a pastern injury. Golden Friendship made it close on the wire despite getting impeded by the riderless horse 150m out following a speed-tracking run. He was suited by the downgrade. Camp Fire just held on for third after a box-seat run. He's given a decent sight in both Valley 1,000m starts. Noble Deluxe just failed to place after a prominent run one off the fence. He's building towards a win on his two starts this term. Punted late Triumphant Warrior ran on steadily for fifth after a rails run from midfield. He's better suited over a longer sprint. Cosmo Navigator just held his ground after a one-off trip from midfield. Modest Gentleman ran on without threatening after making his run towards the rear from gate 11. Spicy So Smart lost his rider after blundering at the jump. Happy Horse was withdrawn by order of the stewards on veterinary advice.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (29) - CHUNG HOM KOK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP (K106) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.

Near the 250 Metres bounded over a section of the track.

For some distance after the 200 Metres was hampered when racing in restricted room between SILVER SPURS which shifted out slightly and the riderless SPICY SO SMART which shifted in.

Trainer K H Ting was fined $3,000 for presenting GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP in the Parade Ring with a ring bit which was not part of that horse's declared gear.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SILVER SPURS (J043) E C W Wong Near the 50 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of the riderless SPICY SO SMART when that horse shifted in.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 NOBLE DELUXE (K052) B Avdulla On jumping shifted in and made contact with TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR.

Horse No 5 SPICY SO SMART (G203) M Chadwick Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration as to whether the horse had been afforded a fair start.

After taking evidence from Jockey M Chadwick and Starter A Speechley the Stewards found that the horse lowered its head simultaneously to the start being effected, resulting in M Chadwick being dislodged and the horse completing the race riderless and as a consequence it was declared a runner.

Trainer W K Mo was advised that the horse will be required to barrier trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (H430) J Orman Bumped at the start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 8 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) A Atzeni From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Leaving the 600 Metres was briefly crowded by WISDOM STAR which shifted in before being corrected by its rider K C Leung.

Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres.

Over the concluding stages was eased when it shifted out towards NOBLE DELUXE when that runner shifted in slightly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 CAMP FIRE (J259) L Ferraris Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 550 Metres was eased to avoid SILVER SPURS.
