Race Five : (60) - JINAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters
Horse No 1 ORIENTAL SMOKE (E467) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 NORTHERN BEAST (H233) A Atzeni A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 PACKING HURRICANE (H137) H Bowman Near the 300 Metres was eased to avoid FLOOF (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in when not clear.
Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 4 BEAUTY VIVA (K155) Y L Chung Between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres was held up for clear running when being shifted to the outside of CAN'T GO WONG.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 FOREVER FOLKS (G463) K Teetan Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost ground.
A warning was placed on the barrier manners of FOREVER FOLKS.
Near the 550 Metres shifted out and made contact with FLOOF.
Horse No 8 PERFECT PAIRING (J331) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.
Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind ORIENTAL SMOKE.
Horse No 9 FLOOF (H432) E C W Wong Bumped near the 550 Metres.
After the event Apprentice E C W Wong stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions and said he issued those instructions as the horse ran well when ridden in a similar manner at its last start on 16 July 2025.
He added that, in his view, FLOOF is better suited over the 1600 Metres.
Horse No 10 ONE AND ONLY (K273) K C Leung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 FIREFOOT (J183) L Hewitson Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind NORTHERN BEAST.
Horse No 12 ROMANTIC FANTASY (H168) A Badel Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the event A Badel reported that his mount may not have appreciated the "Good to Firm" track conditions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 13 DOUBLE WIN (H382) M F Poon Slow to begin.
Held up for clear running between the 500 Metres and the 350 Metres when it improved into a narrow run between ROMANTIC FANTASY and HAILTOTHEVICTORS.

Oriental Smoke straightened one-out, one-back before moving to the lead 300m out and keeping on gamely for a seventh win from 56 starts. He relished a downgrade and step up to 1,800m. Co-favourite Beauty Viva stayed on well to just get the head down for second after coming off heels for a clear run 300m out following a midfield trip. He can bob up at any moment. Backed to jump equal favourite, Double Win roared home late down the outside to just miss second prize money after a patient ride third last from gate 12. It was another honest effort following a stable change. Firefoot stayed on well for fourth after getting held up for a run between the 400m and 200m following a prominent run on the fence. He's shown steady progress on his three runs across both tracks this term. Can't Go Wong kept on for fifth after sitting near the front one off with cover from gate seven. It was one of his better performances at Sha Tin.
