Recap by phillip woo

Sturdy Ruby had a perfect trip fourth on the fence from gate two before surging to the lead 200m out and keeping on gamely for a third win from 29 starts. He is always a chance in Class Four. Well-backed Amazing Gaze ran on nicely near the inside for second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was another encouraging effort after a debut fourth in June, and he should be winning shortly. Favourite Quantum Patch ran on steadily for third after a wide trip without cover from better than midfield. He's racing well and a win is around the corner. Our Lucky Glory made ground late near the outside for fourth after turning the final bend three from the rear. It was a better effort with a step up to 1,650m at his second start this term. Smiling Emperor gradually faded after sitting third with cover from gate three. It was one of his better efforts in Class Four. Take Action ran on without threatening travelling third last from gate 12. He should be fitter for two outings this term and is one to keep safe from a better draw. Punted late Stormi produced a grinding effort after making his run five back and three deep with cover.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (77) - MAN CHEUNG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 QUANTUM PATCH (H166) H Bowman Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped.

Horse No 2 STURDY RUBY (H207) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 AMAZING AWARD (J236) K Teetan Shortly after the start shifted out and away from OUR LUCKY GLORY.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 4 TAKE ACTION (J098) B Avdulla From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 200 Metres attempted to obtain a narrow run between SMILING EMPEROR and QUANTUM PATCH where there was not quite sufficient room.

When SMILING EMPEROR then shifted out approaching the 150 Metres TAKE ACTION was steadied when disappointed for clear running between SMILING EMPEROR and QUANTUM PATCH.

As a consequence TAKE ACTION could not be ridden out over the final 200 Metres.

Horse No 5 AMAZING GAZE (K444) L Hewitson Shifted out shortly after the start and was bumped.

Making the Home Turn was held up for clear running behind ATOMIC BEAUTY.

On straightening AMAZING GAZE was shifted to the inside of ATOMIC BEAUTY and STURDY RUBY to obtain clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 SETANTA (G095) L Ferraris Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between AMAZING GAZE and QUANTUM PATCH, both of which shifted ground.

After the event L Ferraris stated that his mount settled back in the field and found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight which he attributed to the early stages of the race being run outside of standard time.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 JOYFUL PROSPERITY (H213) J Orman Jumped only fairly.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 SUPER PACE (K349) D Probert After the event D Probert advised that with his mount stepping up in distance tonight he was asked to take up a forward position.

Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 STORMI (K084) C L Chau After the event C L Chau reported that his instructions were to endeavour to find cover.

He said in the early stages he attempted to obtain a trailing position behind QUANTUM PATCH but when OUR LUCKY GLORY held its position to his inside he was unable to do so and this resulted in STORMI racing very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 11 SMILING EMPEROR (J371) H Bentley Near the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid ATOMIC BEAUTY when racing keenly.

A short distance later ATOMIC BEAUTY then shifted out, resulting in SMILING EMPEROR racing wide and without cover thereafter.

Horse No 12 ATOMIC BEAUTY (H066) A Atzeni After the event A Atzeni could offer no explanation for his mount's failure to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
