Recap by phillip woo

Regal Gem settled prominently one off from gate three and just out-bobbed Never Too Soon for a second win from his past three starts following a return to the Valley 1,200m. Never Too Soon just failed to get the win after a rails run from midfield. He's always a chance over the Valley 1,200m. Bundle Of Charm grudgingly gave way after working forward three wide to lead from gate four. He's racing well without winning. Early favourite Sovereign Fund ran on well for fourth after a one-off trip from midfield. He should come on for this run. Gracious Express made ground near the outside for fifth after a wide trip travelling behind midfield from gate 10. He'll be one to keep safe from a better draw over this course. Late-fancied favourite Monarch County just plodded after a box-seat run from gate one. It was an only an OK effort at his second run in the grade. Spicy Gold wasn't beaten far in the end after getting posted wide without cover travelling better than midfield the entire trip.

Horse No 2 SPICY GOLD (H440) A Badel Jumped awkwardly.

Near the 650 Metres was bumped and taken wider by REGAL GEM which shifted to the outside of MASTER CHAMPION when racing keenly.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 3 YOUNG EMPEROR (K011) L Ferraris On two occasions shortly after the start became unbalanced when it bumped with MASTER CHAMPION.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 GRACIOUS EXPRESS (J188) J Orman Near the 600 Metres was bumped by SOVEREIGN FUND which shifted out.

GRACIOUS EXPRESS was then obliged to race very wide and without cover for the remainder of the event.

On straightening near the 300 Metres was steadied to avoid SOVEREIGN FUND which shifted out slightly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 SOVEREIGN FUND (J402) K Teetan In the middle stages raced keenly.

For some distance after the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid REGAL GEM.

Horse No 6 BUNDLE OF CHARM (G213) B Avdulla When questioned regarding the horse leading B Avdulla stated that the intention was to hold an on-pace position with cover.

He said when BUNDLE OF CHARM commenced well he rode his mount along to ensure that he was able to cross runners to his inside.

He added after obtaining the lead on the first turn he eased the pace to endeavour to comply with his instructions and have another horse cross his mount.

He said however when no other runner showed the intent to lead BUNDLE OF CHARM was able to hold the lead at a comfortable pace.

Horse No 7 REGAL GEM (K258) K C Leung In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 650 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from MASTER CHAMPION.
