Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Pejibaye dictated the run from gate two and went clear for a maiden win at his fifth start. He lived up to two solid trials for his new trainer after a near miss in July. Emblazon stayed on second best after a one-out, one-back run. He was able to back up a win last start carrying 6lb more. Rank outsider Good Chap ran on nicely for third after a rails run from midfield. It was much-improved effort on his seasonal reappearance. Aerovolanic came from well back and widest out to just miss a placing. He's improved with each run this term. Raging favourite Packing Phoenix didn't find much when asked for an effort after a speed-tracking run from gate nine. He couldn't back up a debut win carrying 6lb more, but it is still early days for him. King Alloy made ground late without threatening after biding his time two from the rear. Proud Box produced a grinding effort after a wide trip from behind midfield.

Horse No 1 KING ALLOY (K099) R Kingscote R Kingscote stated that the instructions were to go forward but after jumping only fairly his mount settled further back in the field than intended.

Horse No 2 AEROVOLANIC (K400) C Y Ho C Y Ho reported that the instructions were to endeavour to hold a midfield position.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he elected to shift his mount behind runners to take up a position towards the rear of the field to avoid racing wide.

Horse No 3 PACKING PHOENIX (K442) Z Purton When questioned Z Purton stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages outside the lead.

He said from the 700 Metres his mount came under pressure before giving ground in the Home Straight but he could offer no reason for its disappointing performance.

Trainer K W Lui stated that the horse had pleased him coming into today's race but could offer no explanation for its performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
