Race Five : (202) - BOCHK WEALTH MANAGEMENT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 GRACIOUS EXPRESS (J188) E C W Wong Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 2 LUCY IN THE SKY (J275) H Bowman A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
Before being allowed to race again, LUCY IN THE SKY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 SUPERB KID (H298) J Orman Slow to begin.
Horse No 4 SEWARD (K563) L Ferraris On jumping made contact with the left side of its starting gate and lost ground.
Horse No 5 SUNNY DA BEST (J118) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 900 Metres improved to the inside of STAR SATYR and got its head up when awkwardly placed to the inside of that runner.
Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid MONARCH COUNTY.
Briefly held up for clear running near the 400 Metres.
Horse No 6 LO PAN SPIRIT (J233) H Bentley A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 INVINCIBLE IBIS (K296) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 MONARCH COUNTY (J421) M Chadwick Near the 600 Metres was eased to avoid SEWARD.
Lay in in the Home Straight and proved difficult to ride out.
Horse No 11 SMART AVENUE (K474) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.
From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages when racing tight between GRACIOUS EXPRESS and MONARCH COUNTY.
Horse No 12 THE RED HARE (K312) H Doyle In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 900 Metres was steadied away from MOTOR.
Lay in over the final 200 Metres.
Horse No 13 EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS (H170) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 FAMILY KNIGHT (K490) P N Wong After being loaded into the starting gates reared, resulting in the horse becoming cast when it got its left leg over the starting gate partition.
Was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was not suitable to race.
Acting on this advice the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
The Stewards ruled that FAMILY KNIGHT will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
Apprentice P N Wong sustained an injury to her right leg and was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

Invincible Ibis travelled one off just off midfield and quickened nicely to take control 50m out for back-to-back wins following a step up to 1,400m. Eighty Light Years produced a cracking effort after leading 250m out following a speed-tracking run from gate nine. It was a solid effort first up for his new trainer this season. The Red Hare stayed on nicely for third after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He's heading in the right direction after back-to-back fifths to start the campaign. Smart Avenue jumped out of his skin late to win a three-way battle for fourth travelling second last after a slow start. It was an improved effort at his third local start. Star Satyr made good ground late near the outside to miss fourth by a nose after making his run three from the rear. Gracious Express just missed fifth by a bob of the heads after a handy run on the fence. It was an OK effort under a 5lb claimer following a recent win.
