Racing Incident Report
Race Four : (230) - THE AMERICAN CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 GREAT STATE (J124) M Chadwick Bumped on the hindquarters at the start.
M Chadwick reported that after enjoying a comfortable run during the race his mount did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight and would derive a fitness benefit from tonight's experience.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 PERFECT GENERAL (J417) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 TURIN CHAMPIONS (L024) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 MOTOMAN (J436) J Orman Approaching the first turn near the 1000 Metres, when racing keenly, got its head up when crowded by KING GLORIOSO (L Ferraris) which shifted in when not clear before being corrected by Jockey Ferraris.
Jockey Ferraris was reprimanded and advised in the circumstances he should correct his mounts sooner than what he did.
After being crossed by KING GLORIOSO near the 1000 Metres then continued to race keenly and approaching the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid KING GLORIOSO.
Horse No 5 CALIFORNIA DEEPLY (G451) J McDonald J McDonald could offer no explanation for his mount's failure to run on in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 GIDDY UP (J020) M L Yeung Bumped at the start.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 8 SAME TO YOU (H057) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
L Hewitson stated that the instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner but after jumping well it held a more forward position than what had been intended.
Horse No 9 VIGOR ELLEEGANT (J375) K C Leung On jumping shifted out and made contact with the left side of its starting gate and then shortly after shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GREAT STATE.
Making the first turn commenced to race keenly and got its head up when positioned close to CALIFORNIA DEEPLY.
VIGOR ELLEEGANT continued to race keenly in the middle stages.
Making the Home Turn was held up for clear running behind SPEEDY TRIDENT.
After the 300 Metres VIGOR ELLEEGANT had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of SPEEDY TRIDENT.
Passing the 150 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of CALIFORNIA DEEPLY to continue into clear running.
Horse No 10 MAGIC COSMOS (J411) Y L Chung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 SPEEDY TRIDENT (K230) R Kingscote Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up for clear running between CALIFORNIA DEEPLY and GREAT STATE which was giving ground.
Horse No 12 COME FAST FAY FAY (K121) H Doyle On jumping shifted out and away from PERFECT GENERAL.
For some distance approaching the 250 Metres lay in when racing tight between GIDDY UP and TURIN CHAMPIONS.
COME FAST FAY FAY continued to lay in for the remainder of the event and proved difficult to ride out to the finish.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Firming favourite Perfect General went forward from gate 11 to eventually land a spot one off in second outside Same To You and took control 200m out for a second win from nine starts. He goes well fresh. Turin Champions ran on nicely with two wider out for second after a one-off trip from midfield. He's going the right way after making good ground late for sixth on debut last month at Sha Tin. Giddy Up made noticeable ground late down the outside for third after biding his time second last from gate seven. It was a better effort on his return to the Valley third up this term. Same To You found a few too good after rolling to the lead early on from gate eight. It was a better effort on his return to the Valley after failing in back-to-back runs following an opening day success. King Glorioso just held his ground after handing up the lead to travel one off in fourth from gate 10. Come Fast Fay Fay made some ground without threatening after a wide trip from behind midfield. Vigor Elleegant made inroads late to finish next best travelling last after missing the kick.
