Racing Incident Report
Race One : (264) - HERON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 2200Meters
Horse No 1 PERFECT PAIRING (J331) J McDonald Jumped only fairly.
Near the 200 Metres was inconvenienced when taken out slightly by STAR BROSE which shifted out after being taken out slightly by STORM RUNNER.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 STORM RUNNER (J452) Z Purton Near the 600 Metres was bumped and taken wider by SUPER SICARIO.
STORM RUNNER then raced wide and without cover thereafter.
Again near the 450 Metres made contact with SUPER SICARIO when that runner continued to maintain its position to the outside of WAH MAY WAI WAI.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 SUPER SICARIO (K306) D Probert Near the 600 Metres was shifted to the outside of WAH MAY WAI WAI to commence a forward move and as a result made contact with STORM RUNNER.
Bumped near the 450 Metres.
D Probert reported that throughout the early and middle stages of the event his mount raced too keenly and refused to settle.
He said as a consequence SUPER SICARIO failed to run out the 2200 Metres of tonight's event.
Trainer C Fownes concurred with the views of Jockey Probert and indicated that he would look to drop the horse back in distance for its next race start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 STAR BROSE (J463) H Bowman Jumped only fairly, shifted in and made contact with GOLDEN FAIRY.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 ROMANTIC FANTASY (H168) B Avdulla Near the 350 Metres was steadied when racing tight to the inside of LEATHER MASTER.
Approaching the 300 Metres was again steadied to avoid LEATHER MASTER when that runner shifted in.
Horse No 6 PERPETUAL POWER (J326) R Kingscote Approaching the 1600 Metres was hampered when taken out by COSMO LIGHT.
Trainer C W Chang confirmed that he had instructed Jockey R Kingscote to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 GOLDEN FAIRY (E448) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
Horse No 8 WAH MAY WAI WAI (J193) Y L Chung Shifted out slightly at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 9 COSMO LIGHT (J379) J Orman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1600 Metres, when racing keenly, shifted out when being steadied away from SUPER HONG KONG.
Raced wide and without cover from the 900 Metres after commencing a forward move from that point.
Trainer Y S Tsui confirmed that he had instructed Jockey J Orman to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages from the outside barrier as the horse had been racing in a disappointing manner when being ridden in a forward position.
He added that he had given Jockey Orman the option of making a mid-race move if circumstances permitted.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 SUPER HONG KONG (D241) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly and then made contact with WAH MAY WAI WAI which shifted out slightly.
Horse No 11 CHATEAU LE PECHE (H471) C L Chau Jumped awkwardly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 250 Metres shifted to the inside of STAR BROSE when disappointed for clear running between PERFECT PAIRING and STAR BROSE.

Star Brose travelled one off behind midfield before racing to the lead 50m out and just holding off Perfect Pairing for a maiden win at his 12th start. He appreciated the step up to 2,200m. Perfect Pairing ran on nicely with two wider out despite getting slightly impeded by the winner 200m following a rails run from behind midfield. He should be winning shortly if he remains in the grade. Favourite Storm Runner stayed on well for third after taking off 650m out following a one-off trip travelling midfield from gate 11. He keeps promising without delivering. Leather Master plugged on well to just get the head down for fourth after a prominent run one off the fence. He rarely produces a bad run over 2,200m. Chateau Le Peche made good ground late through the centre to just miss fourth prize money after turning the final bend one from the rear. Super Hong Kong kept plugging furthest out to finish next best after taking off 650m out travelling wide near the rear from gate 10. Golden Fairy tamely faded after getting pressured for the lead to his outside by Wah May Wai Wai.
