Well-backed California Blitz worked hard to get to the lead from gate nine 800m out and just held on for back-to-back wins. Good Luck Happy finished well despite running out late to make it close on the wire after a rails run from midfield. It was a solid effort on debut. Early favourite Know At Heart stayed on nicely for third after sitting one off travelling fourth from gate three. It was another honest performance. Golden Brilliant made good ground late for fourth after biding his time three from the rear. It was his best effort from five starts following a move to blinkers. Yee Cheong Spirit was only fifth best after taking the short route home following a prominent run on the fence. He had no excuse. Fatal Blow stayed on all right for sixth after getting posted four wide until slotting one position better 800m out travelling midfield from gate 10. He's one to keep safe from a better draw. Winning Now faltered after chasing the leader on the fence from gate four. Precision Hope ran into a traffic jam 100m out near the inside after making his run two from the rear. He should have finished closer.

Race Five : (288) - JUPITER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 BIGTIME GENERATION (K496) E C W Wong Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 2 FATAL BLOW (J484) L Ferraris Near the 200 Metres was hampered and taken wider by GOOD LUCK HAPPY which shifted out.

L Ferraris stated that the intention was to hold a forward position.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he attempted to obtain cover.

He said when SONIC PURSUIT crossed to the one-off position near the 600 Metres this resulted in FATAL BLOW being obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.

Horse No 3 CALIFORNIA BLITZ (J370) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 GOOD LUCK HAPPY (K301) Y L Chung Near the 300 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of KNOW AT HEART to obtain clear running.

In the Home Straight lay out and near the 200 Metres shifted out abruptly, resulting in its rider Y L Chung having to stop riding and straighten.

Over the final 100 Metres GOOD LUCK HAPPY then shifted out when it continued to lay out.

Horse No 5 PRECISION HOPE (L047) H Bentley Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by KNOW AT HEART which jumped awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.

When commencing to finish the race off well was steadied near the 50 Metres when disappointed for clear running between YEE CHEONG SPIRIT and WINNING NOW and as a consequence was unable to be ridden out to the finish.

Horse No 6 WINNING NOW (K532) C L Chau Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by KNOW AT HEART which jumped awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.

Horse No 8 ZHOU GONGJIN (K337) K Teetan From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 CALL TO COMMAND (J243) M L Yeung Shortly after the start was eased when racing in restricted room between GOLDEN BRILLIANT which was taken out by SONIC PURSUIT and CALIFORNIA BLITZ which shifted in slightly.

Near the 200 Metres was hampered and taken wider by FATAL BLOW.

M L Yeung stated that his mount was disadvantaged by the early and middle stages of the event being run inside of standard time which resulted in the horse not travelling well in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 10 GOLDEN BRILLIANT (K347) D Probert Bumped at the start.

Horse No 11 KNOW AT HEART (K108) H Doyle Jumped awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and became unbalanced.

Horse No 12 SONIC PURSUIT (K051) A Atzeni Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

A Atzeni could offer no excuse for the horse's disappointing performance.

Trainer J Richards advised that the horse had pleased him prior to the race and the only explanation he could offer was that SONIC PURSUIT was disadvantaged by racing wide in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
