Race Eight : (421) - THE CENTENARY VASE (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1800Meters
Horse No 1 STRAIGHT ARRON (G435) D B McMonagle D B McMonagle reported that his mount, when placed under pressure in the Home Straight, was reluctant to stretch out.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 SPEED DRAGON (H380) L Hewitson L Hewitson reported that his mount lay out under pressure for the majority of the Home Straight.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 ENSUED (H452) A Atzeni A Atzeni reported that he was given no specific instructions, however it was clear he was going to be caught wide in the early stages, therefore he elected to make a forward move to obtain a position outside the leader.
Horse No 7 NUMBERS (L080) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.

Odds-on favourite Numbers drove to the lead 1,600m out following a sluggish start and kept up a strong gallop for back-to-back wins from three local runs. Speed Dragon stayed on well along the inside for second after a prominent run. It was another good run carrying 9lb more following a Valley win. Encountered flashed home late to make it close for second after a patient ride second last from seven starters. It was another honest performance. Ensued rallied again to nearly place after faltering back to fifth 200m out following a breeze-punching run outside the winner from gate six. Chancheng Glory peaked on his run 100m out after sitting third in the run with cover. He's struggling to find his best form this season. Punted late Beauty Joy only beat one runner after making his run at the rear.
