Outgate tracked the speed of Wonder Kit from gate five and after going for home on top 250m out, he kept up a strong gallop for a fourth win from 36 starts. The step back in distance was a query but he had threatened to breakthrough three times over 1,400m from his opening six starts this term. Bienvenue quickened nicely through the centre for second after copping a sharp bump near the 200m travelling one off from behind midfield. He's a winner in waiting. California Blitz stayed on nicely for third after slotting in one-out, one-back from gate 12. He's honest as the day is long. Never Too Soon made good ground late near the inside for fourth after biding his time two from the rear. He had found the line late for sixth in two prior starts. Wonder Kit grudgingly gave way after dictating the pace from gate sixth. It was a better effort following a gear change. Storming Dragon was doing some nice work late near the outside to snatch sixth after a patient ride at the rear from gate 10. Favourite Friends Of Shajing had his chance but only plodded in the run to the wire after a box-seat run.

Race Nine : (474) - WAN CHAI GAP HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 2 RED ELEGANCE (H241) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Horse No 3 LOVE TOGETHER (L052) E C W Wong When questioned E C W Wong stated that from a wide barrier his instructions were to ride the horse with cover.

He said after taking a position behind REFUSETOBEENGLISH in the early stages LOVE TOGETHER raced keenly and was steadied away from that runner for some distance thereafter when it refused to settle in the middle stages.

He added making the Home Turn LOVE TOGETHER ran wide before finishing the race off reasonably well.

Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions and stated he issued those instructions as he was concerned the horse would race too keenly if ridden forward in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 BIENVENUE (J490) Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start.

Near the 550 Metres became unbalanced when it made contact with TRIUMPHANT MORE and ENDEARED which was racing tight to the inside of REFUSETOBEENGLISH.

Near the 300 Metres became unbalanced when it made contact with REFUSETOBEENGLISH when both runners shifted ground.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 CALIFORNIA BLITZ (J370) M Chadwick Shifted in on jumping and made contact with BIENVENUE.

Was bumped on a number of occasions between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres when preventing FRIENDS OF SHAJING from shifting out.

Horse No 7 REFUSETOBEENGLISH (K362) A Atzeni Near the 300 Metres made contact with BIENVENUE when both runners shifted ground.

A Atzeni stated that his mount was disadvantaged by being obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 FRIENDS OF SHAJING (K202) C L Chau Between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres made contact with CALIFORNIA BLITZ on a number of occasions when held up for clear running behind OUTGATE.

After being disappointed for clear running to the outside of OUTGATE, FRIENDS OF SHAJING shifted to the inside of that runner near the 150 Metres but then had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 150 Metres and the 50 Metres.

Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 STORMING DRAGON (J237) A Badel Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded by BIENVENUE which was taken in by CALIFORNIA BLITZ when that runner shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Horse No 10 ENDEARED (H161) M Guyon Approaching the 700 Metres ENDEARED became unbalanced when crowded between REFUSETOBEENGLISH and CALIFORNIA BLITZ (M Chadwick) which shifted to the outside of FRIENDS OF SHAJING.

M Chadwick was severely reprimanded.

Near the 550 Metres BIENVENUE improved into a narrow run to the inside of ENDEARED.

A short distance later ENDEARED was then steadied when crowded by REFUSETOBEENGLISH (A Atzeni) which shifted in.

A Atzeni was reprimanded.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
