Race Four : (617) - EMBRACING SUCCESS IN ITS MANY WAYS 1400M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 CHARMING BABE (J513) H Bowman H Bowman pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride CHARMING BABE, 6th placegetter, out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
H Bowman was fined the sum of $15,000.
Horse No 2 CHILL PARTNERS (K484) C L Chau On jumping became unbalanced when bumped by POLAR PATCH which shifted in.
Near the 600 Metres was bumped and taken wider by FRANCIS MEYNELL.
Near the 200 Metres made contact with THE ALL ROUNDER due to both runners shifting ground.
C L Chau stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event and, in his opinion, may not have appreciated the "Good to Firm" track conditions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 BUCEPHALAS (K096) H Y Yuen When questioned Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that when she commenced to ride her mount along shortly after the start the horse attempted to buck and became unbalanced.
She said as a consequence BUCEPHALAS lost ground which resulted in it being in an uncompetitive position.
Trainer W K Mo advised that the horse had not previously reacted in a similar manner and could offer no explanation for the horse's racing manners.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The racing manners of BUCEPHALAS were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, BUCEPHALAS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial.
Horse No 4 LET'S HAVE FUN (L118) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.
In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid CHARMING BABE.
Horse No 5 POLAR PATCH (L211) L Ferraris Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 6 Z PRINCE (L256) J Orman Bumped at the start.
Near the 900 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from LET'S HAVE FUN.
Horse No 7 FRANCIS MEYNELL (J394) R Kingscote Near the 600 Metres shifted out and made contact with CHILL PARTNERS.
Near the 200 Metres was eased to avoid LET'S HAVE FUN (B Avdulla) which shifted out.
B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.
R Kingscote stated that when the pace steadied near the 900 Metres his mount raced keenly and was steadied to avoid VOYAGE BOSS.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained an abrasion to the left front leg.
Horse No 9 DASHING PEACH (L066) K Teetan K Teetan stated that his mount weakened noticeably when under pressure in the Home Straight but he could not identify any reason for the disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 DECISION LINK (K416) J Moreira Shortly after the start was crowded between VOYAGE BOSS and CHILL PARTNERS which shifted in after making contact with POLAR PATCH.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 PROUD BOX (K487) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 SUPER MASTERMIND (K541) M L Yeung For some distance near the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind Z PRINCE.
Horse No 13 THE ALL ROUNDER (K402) M F Poon Leaving the 900 Metres raced keenly and was steadied away from FRANCIS MEYNELL.
Leaving the 500 Metres was shifted to the outside of FRANCIS MEYNELL to continue into clear running.
Near the 200 Metres made contact with CHILL PARTNERS due to both runners shifting ground.
M F Poon stated that in the Home Straight his mount failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 14 YOUNG LEGACY (K465) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with Z PRINCE.

Proud Box led and never looked back for a comfortable first win at his eighth start. He had always shown hints of ability. Post-time favourite Decision Link rushed home late for second after making his run five back and one off the fence. It was another good performance following a last-start win in Class Five. Let's Have Fun ran on steadily for third after a rails run from better than midfield. It was clearly his best effort from four consecutive 1,400m runs down in Class Four. Voyage Boss gradually faded after chasing a genuine pace from gate 10. It was another honest performance. Z Prince made a decent bid late for fifth after a rails run from behind midfield. it was a positive debut performance. Charming Babe came up one paced after a box-seat run. It was only a shade better effort following a downgrade.
