Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Vigor Eye had the box-seat run and after poking his head in front of outsider Captain Link 50m out, he just clung on for a maiden win at the sixth attempt and his first try of the Valley. The writing was on the wall after three Sha Tin placings. Captain Link would not go down without a fight after leading from gate five. It was his best performance from six local starts and third down in Class Four. Young Arrow ran on nicely for third after a rails run from midfield. It was a good run carrying top weight following a downgrade. Leading Agility stayed on a non-threatening fourth after a prominent run one off the fence. He was able to back up an improved fourth last start for his new trainer. Heavily backed Lucky McQueen motored late near the outside for fifth after fading back to travel fourth last from gate 12. He continues to perform reasonably well in back-to-back runs following a win. Jolly Companion ran on without threatening after a one-off trip from behind midfield. Punted late Flying Sniper made ground late to finish next best after making his run at the rear from gate 11.
