Heavily punted The Auspicious was fourth last and three off the fence when straightening and showed a good turn of foot to take control 30m out for a fourth win across both tracks from 14 starts this term. He loves the Valley. Favourite Ace War zipped home late near the inside to finish a close second after making his run second last from gate 11. It was another solid run carrying a lighter weight in Class Three following backto- back wins in Class Four. Punted late Liveandletlive kept on well for third after setting a genuine pace in front from gate three. He's honest as the day is long without winning from 11 starts this term. Mission Giant ran on well for fourth after a rails run from behind midfield. It was a much better effort with a step up to 1,800m at his second local start. China Win ran on steadily through the centre for fifth after a rails run from better than midfield. Specked late Packing Fighter gradually faded after pressing forward from better than midfield to sit second near the 900m from gate 10. So You Will failed to figure after a prominent run. The step up to 1,800m failed to pan out.

Race Eight : (632) - ONCIDIUM HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Meters

Horse No 2 HIGHLAND RAHY (J298) P N Wong Bumped at the start.

For some distance after the 1600 Metres raced tight to the inside of LIVEANDLETLIVE (H Bowman).

Approaching the 1300 Metres was steadied to avoid LIVEANDLETLIVE when that runner shifted in when not quite clear.

H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.

Apprentice P N Wong stated that she was instructed to lead the event.

She said in the early stages her mount did not show sufficient pace to do so.

She added after racing tight to the inside of LIVEANDLETLIVE in the early stages she was obliged to take a trailing position behind LIVEANDLETLIVE.

Horse No 3 CHINA WIN (K395) M L Yeung Bumped at the start.

Horse No 5 SO YOU WILL (L172) J Moreira J Moreira stated that his mount was under pressure from the 600 Metres and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 MIGHTY STRENGTH (H450) K Teetan From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 450 Metres raced tight to the inside of ACE WAR when that runner improved to the inside of EXCELLENCE VALUE.

Horse No 7 EXCELLENCE VALUE (K093) L Hewitson L Hewitson stated that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event and raced in a disappointing manner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of EXCELLENCE VALUE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, EXCELLENCE VALUE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 9 VIOLET STAR (L149) H Bentley Bumped shortly after the start.

H Bentley reported that his mount lay out in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 MISSION GIANT (K577) E C W Wong Shortly after the start shifted out and made contact with VIOLET STAR.

E C W Wong was fined the sum of $3,000 for returning to scale 2 lbs overweight.

Horse No 11 ACE WAR (J509) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 450 Metres improved into a narrow run to the inside of EXCELLENCE VALUE and then raced tight to the inside of EXCELLENCE VALUE for a short distance thereafter.

Over the concluding stages raced tight to the inside of THE AUSPICIOUS which shifted in slightly.

Horse No 12 PACKING FIGHTER (L112) A Atzeni Approaching the 1500 Metres improved to the inside of SO YOU WILL when racing keenly.

A short distance later PACKING FIGHTER was steadied to avoid SO YOU WILL when that runner shifted in.

PACKING FIGHTER continued to race keenly for some distance thereafter and as a result was allowed to stride forward near the 1000 Metres.
