Packing King travelled one off better than midfield and picked up nicely to overhaul Lucrative Eight in the concluding stages for a maiden win at his fourth start following a stable change. Lucrative Eight came up just short after leading 150m out following a prominent run on the fence. He's run well in both starts and a win is around the corner. Navas G found a couple just too good after rushing to the lead 250m out following a oneoff trip travelling third from gate seven under a 10lb claimer. It was a solid debut effort. Matzden ran on steadily for fourth after a rails run from midfield. It was a good effort at his first start down in Class Four. The Heir made inroads late near the inside for fifth after making his run four from the rear. It was another honest effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (634) - FWD INSURANCE ACT PRIVATE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 MATZDEN (L133) M Zahra Jumped only fairly.

Near the 200 Metres made contact with PACKING KING when both runners shifted ground slightly.

Horse No 3 AKERMANIS GOLD (L031) E Brown From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

When commencing to finish the race off well was eased and shifted to the outside of LUCKY TWENTY near the 150 Meters when LUCKY TWENTY was giving ground.

Horse No 4 LUCKY TWENTY (K392) L Ferraris Bumped shortly after the start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 BRILLIANT WINNER (L203) C L Chau After being placed in the starting gates became fractious, was removed and examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

After again being placed in the starting gates the start was delayed when the bridle on BRILLIANT WINNER was refitted.

Before being allowed to race again, BRILLIANT WINNER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

Jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start became unbalanced when crowded between PACKING KING and LUCKY TWENTY, both of which shifted ground.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 7 GUTSY BRAVO (L178) J Orman Jumped only fairly.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 LUCRATIVE EIGHT (K542) K Teetan Noted to have sustained a small wound to the right hind leg after the race.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 NAVAS G (L194) H Y Yuen When questioned regarding her riding in the early stages of the Home Straight and the reason LUCRATIVE EIGHT was able to obtain clear running to her inside Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that making the Home Turn she improved to the outside of I EXCELLE but then her mount, which was having its first race start, shifted out further than she had anticipated.

She said as a result LUCRATIVE EIGHT was able to obtain clear running to her inside near the 400 Metres.

Apprentice Yuen was advised that whilst accepting her inexperience of riding in Hong Kong, wherever possible, she should make a greater effort to ride her mounts in a more competitive manner.

Horse No 11 PRESTIGE HALL (K040) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

Near the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid THE HEIR when being shifted in behind that runner.

For some distance near the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when endeavouring to improve between PACKING KING and A TIME FOR US.

H Bowman stated that once his mount obtained clear running it finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 BEAUTY GEMINI (L129) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly.

Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 950 Metres got its head up when being steadied.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 13 PACKING KING (K570) Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start.

Bumped near the 200 Metres.
