Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Geneva was ridden patiently third last and got the gaps near the inside to take control near the 100m for a fourth win from 15 starts. He was able to build on minor placings in two other starts this term. Thunder Kit ran on nicely through the centre for second after making his run five back along the inside from gate six. He's trending towards a win. Lucky Candy just held got the bob down to beat favourite Cool Boy after leading from gate 12. The step up to 1,200m wasn't a problem after producing better performances in back-to-back 1,000m runs. Cool Boy lost a placing late after briefly leading 150m out following a speed-tracking run from gate 13. The change in tactics failed to have the desired result. Circuit Grand Slam made good ground late for fifth after biding his time second last from gate three.

Horse No 1 CHATEAUNEUF (J219) J McDonald Bumped at the start.

Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 3 CELESTIAL HERO (K363) J Moreira Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 4 GENEVA (J114) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 COOL BOY (L014) Z Purton Z Purton stated that the intention was to hold a handy position.

He said from his wide barrier he was obliged to make use of his mount to go forward in the early stages and race outside the lead to avoid covering additional ground.

He said this resulted in COOL BOY racing in a more forward position than intended.

Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions were to be handy but accepted the reasons as to why the horse was obliged to race in a more forward position.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 LIFELINE EXPRESS (H439) A Atzeni Between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 SAVVY BRILLIANT (J437) C L Chau Near the 450 Metres, when racing keenly, improved to the inside of SUGAR SUGAR as that runner was being shifted to the inside of LUCKY CANDY.

As a result SAVVY BRILLIANT was steadied to avoid SUGAR SUGAR.

Held up for clear running over the final 400 Metres and near the 150 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between LUCKY CANDY and COOL BOY.

Horse No 8 PEGAS (L075) E Brown Jumped only fairly.

Shortly after the start became unbalanced when it made contact with GRIT SPIRIT.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 FLYING HUNTER (L247) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 14 LUCKY CANDY (L041) A Badel Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with CHATEAUNEUF.

Trainer W K Mo confirmed that from a wide barrier and with the horse stepping up to 1200 Metres he had instructed A Badel to go forward as he was of the opinion that there was not strong pace engaged in the event.
