Recap by phillip woo
Red hot favourite Romantic Warrior was one-out, one-back in the run and after rushing to the lead 250m out, he was too smart for an unprecedented fourth QEII Cup success and a very impressive 14th Group One winner. Masquerade Ball came from last to grab second. It was a solid effort in a paceless race by the Japanese raider. French performer Sosie ran on nicely for third after making his run third last in the eight-runner field. He wasn't suited by the muddling pace and prefers a longer trip. British raider Royal Champion whacked on one paced for fourth without threatening the first three after a box-seat run. Japan's Giovanni kept on for a minor cheque after tracking the slow lead fractions of Numbers. Rubylot just plodded after a rails run from midfield. Numbers didn't find much in the run to the wire after setting slow fractions.
