Well backed Ka Ying Attack travelled in the box seat from gate two before rolling to the lead 300m out and proving too smart for a fourth win from 17 starts. He deserved that after recording minor placings in five of nine other starts this term. Favourite Crossborderpegasus came from near last and widest out for second. It was another honest performance. Newcomer Tang Heart just got up late for third without threatening the quinella pair after making his run five back and one off the fence. It was a good effort after arriving a winner twice from nine starts in Australia. Causeway King was pipped late for third after dictating the run from gate four. It was a better effort under a 10lb claimer at his third local run and first at Sha Tin.

Race Eleven : (744) - HONG KONG KA YING (MEIZHOU) GENERAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CUPHANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 CROSSBORDERPEGASUS (K008) J Orman Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded for room between DRAGON FOUR SEAS which was taken out by CAUSEWAY KING and CALA DEI MORI which shifted in.

Lay in in the Home Straight.

Sent for sampling post-race Horse No 2 SMART GOLF (L004) H Bentley Near the 400 Metres was bumped by KA YING ATTACK which shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

Before being allowed to race again, SMART GOLF will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 3 CALA DEI MORI (L428) Z Purton Shifted in at the start and made contact with CROSSBORDERPEGASUS.

Raced keenly in the early stages.

Near the 800 Metres was steadied to avoid SMART GOLF (H Bentley) which shifted in when not quite clear.

H Bentley was advised to exercise more care.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 KA YING ATTACK (J391) C L Chau Bumped on jumping.

Near the 400 Metres was steadied to avoid CAUSEWAY KING when it shifted to the outside of that runner into a narrow run.

As a result KA YING ATTACK made contact with SMART GOLF.

Sent for sampling post-race Horse No 5 YOUNG EMPEROR (K011) L Ferraris From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the finish line was hampered when taken wider by TANG HEART which shifted out.

When questioned L Ferraris stated that whilst he had expected to settle towards the back of the field he was asked to attempt to find the rail and take the inside runs.

He said after following TANG HEART in the race, when that runner shifted out on the Home Turn, he remained racing towards the inside to comply with his instructions.

He said when THOUSAND SPIRIT shifted out at the top of the Home Straight he then improved to that runner's inside where he commenced to ride his mount along.

He added near the 300 Metres when CALA DEI MORI commenced to give ground he became held up for clear running behind that runner between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres where he was able to shift to the outside to commence to ride his mount along.

Trainer D Eustace confirmed the instructions and said he issued those instructions as YOUNG EMPEROR has a tendency to lay in and not finishes its races off when it makes a run wide on the track.

After considering his explanation, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Ferraris were reasonable in the circumstances.

Horse No 6 DO YOU JUST (L094) Y L Chung Bumped near the 350 Metres.

Horse No 7 DRAGON FOUR SEAS (J317) K C Leung On jumping was steadied when crowded between CROSSBORDERPEGASUS and CAUSEWAY KING which shifted out.

Horse No 8 MAJESTIC VALOUR (L016) M F Poon Had its left front plate refitted in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.

Bumped at the start, shifted in and made contact with TANG HEART.

Horse No 9 TANG HEART (L373) J Moreira On jumping was crowded by MAJESTEIC VALOUR which shifted in after making contact with THOUSAND SPIRIT.

Horse No 11 NEW FUTURE FOLKS (J418) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly and got its head up, resulting in its rider M L Yeung becoming unbalanced.

Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind MAJESTIC VALOUR.

Horse No 12 THOUSAND SPIRIT (K365) L Hewitson Bumped on jumping.

Near the 350 Metres shifted out and away from CALA DEI MORI and made contact with DO YOU JUST.

Horse No 13 TACTICAL HORIZONS (L173) K Teetan Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.

After being shifted to the inside of CALA DEI MORI near the 250 Metres then raced tight to the inside of CALA DEI MORI which shifted in when giving ground.

Near the 150 Metres TACTICAL HORIZONS was then steadied when disappointed for clear running between NEW FURTURE FOLKS and CALA DEI MORI.

Horse No 14 WINNING BUDDIES (L092) M Chadwick On jumping shifted in and made contact with KA YING ATTACK and became unbalanced.

Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running when being shifted to the outside of YOUNG EMPEROR.

Horse No GOLD PATCH (L099) Z Purton Withdrawn on 29.5.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter CALA DEI MORI.

Before being allowed to race again, GOLD PATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the running of Race 9, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Races 8 and 9 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"
