Race Seven : (751) - SHOUSON HILL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 HAPPY INDEX (L152) H Bowman H Bowman stated that the instructions were to go forward.
He said after being bumped by DANCING CLASSICS at the start his mount did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to hold a more forward position.
Horse No 2 SYMBOL OF STRENGTH (K352) L Ferraris Shortly after the start raced tight between JUBILANT WINNER and AMAZING KID which shifted in.
Horse No 4 HARMONY N BLESSED (E061) H Bentley Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 AMAZING KID (K434) A Atzeni Shortly after the start shifted in after being bumped by POWER KOEPP.
Horse No 6 IGOR STRAVINSKY (K086) P N Wong A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 KING PROFIT (J539) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 DANCING CLASSICS (J060) J Moreira Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Near the 300 Metres was checked when disappointed for clear running between HARMONY N BLESSED and SUPER JOY N FUN.
In this incident DANCING CLASSICS shifted out and made heavy contact with SUPER JOY N FUN.
DANCING CLASSICS was then held up for clear running between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres.
Horse No 9 SUPER JOY N FUN (J164) C L Chau From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 300 Metres was bumped heavily by DANCING CLASSICS.
Horse No 10 ACE CHAMPION (K379) C Y Ho Held up on the Home Turn.
Noted to have sustained an abrasion to its left hind leg.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 POWER KOEPP (E301) A Badel Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped.
A Badel stated that his instructions were to hold an on-pace position preferably with cover.
He said when caught wide in the early stages he elected to allow POWER KOEPP to stride forward to lead the event to avoid covering additional ground.
Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 TACTICAL ACE (L249) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly and then became unbalanced when it made contact with HAPPY INDEX.
Leaving the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid ACE CHAMPION when racing keenly.
In the Home Straight raced greenly and hung in.

Punted late Power Koepp stole the race after making his own luck in front from gate six for a seventh career win and fifth over the Valley 1,200m from 62 starts. It was his best effort from 13 starts this term but was rated five points below a win last year. King Profit made it close on the wire after a speed-tracking run from gate seven. It was another good run up in grade carrying 11lb more following a win. Favourite Ace Champion closed off nicely to miss by a short head after biding his time fourth last from gate one. He relished a return to the Valley 1,200m of a near win in March. Amazing Kid kept on one paced after sitting third and one off in the run. He does appear to be on or near his mark after notching a fourth win off 61 in March. Jubilant Winner just held his ground when push came to shove after a handy run on the fence. It was a better effort on his return to the Valley 1,200m of a win in April. Symbol Of Strength only plodded after a one-off trip from midfield. Whacked late in betting Super Joy N Fun made inroads late to finish next best after making his run wide towards the rear from gate 12.
