Recap by phillip woo

Crunched late to jump an equal favourite, Kyrus Treasure had a perfect trip in the box seat from gate one and easily got the better of long-time leader and early favourite Kingly Demeanor 150m out for a first win at his 10th start and first over the Valley 1,800m. The drop in grade worked the oracle. Kingly Demeanor was given every chance in front but found one better on the day. He's a winner waiting to happen if he stays in the grade. Dragon Sunrise just failed to get up for second after a one-out, one-back run. He can produce a positive run now and then over this course. Perfect Pairing ran on late near the inside for fourth after a patient ride fourth last from gate 10. It was a good effort in a race run to suit those up front, but he does prefer 2,200m. Lucky Blessing gradually faded after a speed-tracking run from gate nine. It was an OK effort at his first start over 1,800m. Punted late All Are Mine produced a grinding effort after a rails run travelling worse than midfield. Smart City made only mild bid following a one-off trip from behind midfield. Smiling Emperor got going late after making his run second last from gate 12.
