Recap by phillip woo

Well backed Viva Firecracker speared to the front from gate nine and was perfectly rated for a maiden win at his 10th start. He had put the writing on the wall two runs ago prior to a defeat last start when returning lame. Sturdy Ruby ran on nicely to finish a clear second after a rails run from midfield. He was a well-rated runner off a track and trip success in October. General Redwood just edged favourite Decision Link for third after a one-out, one-back run. It was another good effort carrying 6lb more after winning two of his past three starts. Decision Link took off three wide 700m out to just miss a placing after a one-of trip from midfield. He couldn't offset a 6lb rise in weight following a win. Red Brick Warrior was doing his best work late for fifth after making his run five back along the inside. It was a typical run on without threatening performance. The Azure was doing his best work late through the centre for sixth after making his run third last from gate 12. His chase for a fifth win in five rides under Zac Purton ended. Absolute Awakened made only a mild bid following a one-off trip from behind midfield.
