Recap by phillip woo

Live Wire tracked the speed outside Superb King before leading close to home and winning a photo finish over Giant Leap for a first win at his seventh start. He had been knocking on the door across both tracks. Punted late Giant Leap made it very close on the wire after travelling effectively one-out, one-back. He has very good form over the Valley 1,200m. Early favourite Elegant Life had his chance after a box-seat run but found a couple too good. It was another good run carrying 9lb more following a win. Post-time favourite Superb King succumbed late for fourth after dictating the run from gate two. It was another honest effort, but he has trouble winning. New Power stayed on a non-threatening fifth after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He's gone all right in back-to-back starts following an injury-induced absence. Sensationally-backed Thunder Prince ran on without threatening after a one-off trip from behind midfield. Tactical Command made inroads late after a rails run from behind midfield. You can forgive the run of Victor The Rapid who was posted wide without cover from gate 12.
