Recap by phillip woo

Le Zonda was ridden patiently at the rear from gate 11 before peeling widest out at the 150m and swooping to just defeat Fortunate Son for a first local win. He had flashed potential in five of his first six starts. Fortunate Son stayed on well to just grab second after a prominent run. It was an improved effort at his second time of asking over the Valley 1,800m following back-to-back fourths over the Valley 1,650m. Glittering Legend was swamped late after poking his head in front 50m out following a rails run from midfield. It was his best effort from six starts on turf. Early favourite The Auspicious just failed to get up for a placing after a rails run from behind midfield. It was another honest performance. Shamus Storm stayed on fifth best after a wide trip without cover from behind midfield. It was a good effort considering the circumstances of his run. Fantastic Fun was on his tippy toes 100m out after dictating the pace from gate 12. It was an OK effort at his first start over the Valley 1,800m. Post-time favourite Audacious Pursuit had his chance but didn't find much after a box-seat run.
