Race Seven : (822) - THE GUANGDONG-HONG KONG CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 WE ARE HERO (G207) C L Chau Shifted in on jumping and was bumped.
Horse No 2 FAST RESPONDER (J295) H Y Yuen Shortly after the start became unbalanced when crowded between WE ARE HERO and MASTER OF ALL, both of which shifted ground.
When questioned regarding her riding near the 200 Metres and the reason she elected to shift to the inside of DANCING CLASSICS to obtain clear running rather than improving between DRAGON FOUR SEAS and DANCING CLASSICS, Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that as she commenced to improve into the event she was concerned that DANCING CLASSICS would shift out which would result in the run closing.
She said for this reason she elected to ease FAST RESPONDER and shift to the inside of DANCING CLASSICS to ensure her mount was given an uninterrupted run to the finish of the event.
Apprentice Yuen was advised that in similar circumstances she should ensure she avails herself of runs as soon as they present themselves.
Horse No 4 CALA DEI MORI (L428) L Hewitson Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was unable to improve when racing between WE ARE HERO and MASTER OF ALL.
Horse No 5 METRO POWER (K408) K Teetan Shortly after the start shifted in and was bumped on the hindquarters.

Horse No 6 STRAIGHT TO GLORY (K340) K C Leung Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between DRAGON FOUR SEAS which was taken out by WATCH LEGEND and METRO POWER which shifted in.

Horse No 7 TOGETHER WE VALUE (L170) B Avdulla Over the final 50 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned between STRAIGHT TO GLORY and METRO POWER.
Horse No 9 DRAGON FOUR SEAS (J317) E C W Wong Shortly after the start was crowded between STRAIGHT TO GLORY and WATCH LEGEND which shifted out.
Horse No 10 DANCING CLASSICS (J060) C Y Ho A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 LUCKY CANDY (L041) A Badel On jumping shifted out and made contact with PARENTS' LOVE.

Horse No 13 MASTER OF ALL (H177) M L Yeung Shifted out on jumping and was bumped.
Horse No 14 PARENTS' LOVE (H405) P N Wong Bumped on jumping.

Straight To Glory copped a check soon after the start and had to come off heels for a clear run 300m out, but still managed to get up in the concluding stages for the win. He's won four times this term and two of his past three starts following a return to the straight 1,000m. Early favourite Lucky Candy found one just too good after poking his head in front 50m out following a prominent run in the centre of the track from gate seven. He's racing well without winning. Well backed Fast Responder just got up near the far side for third after biding his time third last from gate five. He's as honest as the day is long over the straight 1,000m. Metro Power grudgingly gave way after leading.
