Saturday’s 10-race card at Sha Tin is headlined by a competitive Class Two Lukfook Jewellery Cup (1,200m), while the battle between champion jockeys Zac Purton and James McDonald is sure to be another highlight.

Jay Rooney is in the hot seat to provide an extended rundown of his selections.

Race 1 – Class Four Lukfook Jewellery Hexicon Handicap (1,200m)

Georgian Sigma comes off an impressive second on debut, in which he was carried out just before the turn by eventual winner Ever Luck and fired in a protest that was unsuccessful. He has since trialled well and looks the one to beat.

Race 2 – Class Five Lukfook Jewellery Wedding Collection Handicap (1,800m)

Ninja Derby has been in great form for new trainer Brett Crawford with a dominant win and brave third after a wide trip. He will get a more favourable run from gate two.

Race 3 – Class Four Lukfook Jewellery Love Is Beauty Collection Handicap (2,000m)

Firefoot comes off back-to-back seconds over 1,800m and can take advantage of a soft run from gate one here.

Race 4 – Class Three Lukfook Jewellery Diabling Shimmering Gold Collection Handicap (1,000m)

Fast Responder hasn’t been beaten far in three runs this term, but importantly gets the advantage of the outside draw up the straight and a big weight drop with apprentice Britney Wong Po-ni back on.

Race 5 – Class Four Lukfook Jewellery Miss Hong Kong Love Yourself Collection Handicap (1,400m)

Oldtown made a successful seasonal return when finishing powerfully to score and the step up in trip looks ideal.

Race 6 – Class Four Lukfook Jewellery Heirloom Fortune Collection Handicap (1,650m)

Mr Cool has been racing well without luck from wide draws and finally gets a gate in barrier one for his dirt debut. He has always trialled well on the surface.

Race 7 – Class Two Lukfook Jewellery Cup (1,200m)

Lady’s Choice was only narrowly beaten first up when second to Tomodachi Kokoroe, who has since won a Group Two. He can overcome top weight and a wide draw.

Race 8 – Class Four Lukfook Jewellery CCool Collection Handicap (1,200m)

Prestige Hall looks suited rising in trip after a solid seventh over 1,000m first up. He has since trialled nicely and gets the services of James McDonald.

Race 9 – Class Three Lukfook Joaillerie Handicap (1,650m)

There looks to be a stack of speed engaged in this dirt race, which should suit Reliable Profit who rises in class after a dominant last-start victory.

Race 10 – Class Three Lukfook Jewellery Night Banquet In Tang Palace Collection Handicap (1,600m)

Beauty Bolt flashed home to be beaten narrowly by Fortune Boy last start and meets that galloper 7lb better here. He has also drawn far better in gate five and won a trial since his last run.
