Racing Incident Report
Race Six : (644) - THE KOWLOON CRICKET CLUB CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 AMAZING VICTORY (G123) K C Leung Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 2 GALLANT EPOCH (J451) H Bowman Near the 300 Metres was contacted by FORTUNE BOY.
After the event H Bowman stated that he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to take up a forward position from his wide barrier.
He said when unable to cross runners to his inside GALLANT EPOCH raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of GALLANT EPOCH was considered disappointing as compared to its last start.
Before being allowed to race again, GALLANT EPOCH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 ETALON OR (J273) A Badel Approaching the 800 Metres was checked to avoid POCHETTINO and as a result was shifted out away from that runner.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 TIMES TABLE (J230) J Orman Slow to begin.
A warning was placed on the barrier manners of the horse.
Making the Home Turn and in the Home Straight lay out.
Approaching the 50 Metres was shifted to the outside of CARRYON SMILING to continue into clear running.
Horse No 5 BEAU CADEAU (J334) C L Chau Eased approaching the 800 Metres.
Horse No 7 WROTE A NEW PAGE (K226) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start was then crowded by POCHETTINO which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 HAPPY UNIVERSE (J533) M F Poon Crowded at the start.
After the event M F Poon stated that the intention was to find cover.
He said in the early stages when GALLANT EPOCH did not continue forward he was left racing without cover and unsuited by having GALLANT EPOCH race to his outside.
He said as a result HAPPY UNIVERSE did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 FORTUNE BOY (K098) B Avdulla From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
For some distance near the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between CARRYON SMILING and GALLANT EPOCH and made contact with GALLANT EPOCH when obtaining a narrow run.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 MUSANG KING (K068) K Teetan Crowded at the start.
After the 800 Metres MUSANG KING improved to the inside of ETALON OR when that runner was taken wider.
ETALON OR (A Badel) then shifted back in to resume his position when not clear of MUSANG KING, resulting in MUSANG KING having to be checked.
A Badel was reprimanded and advised he must ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground to resume his position.
Horse No 11 YODA'S CHOICE (J146) A Atzeni On jumping was crowded between HAPPY UNIVERSE and AMAZING VICTORY which shifted out.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 SPECIAL HEDGE (H354) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 14 POCHETTINO (J149) B Thompson Near the 800 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid BEAU CADEAU when that runner was eased to allow GALLANT EPOCH to cross.

Fortune Boy travelled second last from gate 13 and was jammed up 200m out, but dashed nicely through the centre for a first win at his sixth start. He had been knocking on the door. Wrote A New Page ran on well for second after a one-off trip from midfield. He appreciated the step up to 1,600m. Special Hedge had to settle for third after finding the lead 300m out following a prominent run on the fence. He's run well to fill the frame in three straight runs with a step back up to 1,600m. Carryon Smiling ran on steadily near the inside to just miss a placing after improving to travel midfield on the fence mid-race. It was a pleasing effort with a step up to 1,600m after a win two runs ago over 1,400m. Times Table came from last for fifth after a slow start. He should find his mark shortly in this grade after getting up for fifths in two of his past three starts. Favourite Etalon Or made headway late for sixth after getting shuffled back to third last 800m out.
