Racing Incident Report
Race One : (605) - CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF THE HK SEVENS 1000M HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters
Horse No 2 FORTUNE WARRIOR (H229) P N Wong Lay out on the Home Turn.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 3 LUCKY GENERATIONS (J338) J Moreira After the 400 Metres was steadied to avoid RUN YES RUN.
J Moreira reported that his mount did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to hold a more forward position and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 5 MACANESE MASTER (J532) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 ALWAYS MY FOLKS (J345) Z Purton After the race an endoscopic examination was conducted on ALWAYS MY FOLKS at the request of Trainer C S Shum.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, ALWAYS MY FOLKS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 TAIHANG SCENERY (J314) E C W Wong From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 400 Metres was steadied when held up for clear running behind LUCKY GENERATIONS.
As a result TAIHANG SCENERY was held up until near the 300 Metres when it was shifted to the inside of LUCKY GENERATIONS to secure clear running.
Horse No 9 ORIENTAL SURPRISE (K028) H Bentley From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 11 SPORTIC WARRIOR (J385) H T Mo Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Well-backed Always My Folks tracked the speed from gate seven before assuming the lead from favourite Macanese Master near the 200m and finding plenty for a first win at his 17th start. He appreciated a step back to the 1,000m of a fourth two runs ago after struggling over 1,200m. Macanese Master found one too good after leading from gate one. He continues to hold his form very well with seconds in three consecutive runs after a win in February. Punted late Spicy Spangle stayed on well for third after settling fourth in the run following a slow start. It was a good effort after playing up before the start. Taihang Scenery made up heaps of ground late near the inside to snatch fourth after a patient ride second last from gate 12. It was another solid run over the Valley 1,000m after a near win in February. Country Dancer peaked on his run 100m out following a bid through the centre following a one-off trip from behind midfield. He might be better suited over 1,200m nowadays. Lucky Generations ran on without threatening after a rails run from behind midfield. He's more effective over a further 200m.
