Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (618) - THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB COMMUNITY TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 FLUORESCENCE (L124) E C W Wong Slow to begin and then was crowded by MEGA MASTERMIND which shifted in.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 FAMILY KNIGHT (K490) M L Yeung Slow to begin.
Shortly after the start was crowded by MULTISUPERSTAR which shifted out.
Horse No 3 MEGA MASTERMIND (L044) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 CLEANSWEEPER (K555) R Kingscote Crowded at the start.
Horse No 5 FLYING BOOM (K327) M F Poon On jumping was checked when crowded by HONORARY which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
M F Poon stated that after being checked at the start and settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight due to the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 PRESTIGE RICKY (K009) J Orman Near the 900 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied to avoid ABSOLUTE HONOUR for some distance.
Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 7 GRAND TURBO (L138) H Bowman Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with AMAZING DUCK.
Horse No 8 LEAPING STAR (L189) L Ferraris Had its left hind plate adjusted in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
On jumping made contact with CLEANSWEEPER which shifted out.
Horse No 9 AMAZING DUCK (H392) H Y Yuen Bumped on jumping.
When questioned regarding her riding and the reason her mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that her instructions were to go forward and sit outside the expected leader MEGA MASTERMIND.
She said after jumping well and being positioned to the outside of MEGA MASTERMIND she observed HONORARY improve to her outside.
She said as her mount was stepping up to the 1600 Metres today she elected to allow HONORARY to cross her mount near the 1100 Metres.
She added that as HONORARY did so the pace of the event, in her opinion, eased which resulted in AMAZING DUCK racing keenly and having to be shifted to the outside of HONORARY near the 900 Metres to avoid that runner.
She said as a consequence AMAZING DUCK raced wide and without cover thereafter.
When questioned if there was an opportunity to hold her position to the outside of the lead to prevent HONORARY from shifting in Apprentice Yuen agreed with the Stewards that in retrospect she should have made more effort to do so having regard to the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time.
When questioned regarding the reason MATSU VICTOR was able to improve to her inside near the 600 Metres Apprentice Yuen stated that as her focus was on keeping her mount balanced she did not elect to contest the position to the outside of HONORARY when MATSU VICTOR commenced to improve.
She said as a result AMAZING DUCK was then taken wider from the 600 Metres when MATSU VICTOR was able to shift out.
Trainer K H Ting confirmed the instructions were to go forward and race outside the expected leader MEGA MASTERMIND.
He stated that, in his opinion, Apprentice Yuen would have been better suited by making a greater effort to prevent HONORARY from crossing AMAZING DUCK in the early stages having regard to the pace of the event being run outside of standard time.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The Stewards advised Apprentice Yuen that whilst they acknowledged her relative inexperience riding in Hong Kong she would be expected to ride her mounts in a more competitive manner in similar circumstances, particularly as she gains experience riding in this jurisdiction.
Horse No 10 MULTISUPERSTAR (L163) A Atzeni Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
With the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time raced keenly.
A Atzeni stated that, in his opinion, the horse did not run out the 1600 Metres of today's race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 ABSOLUTE HONOUR (K260) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 13 HONORARY (K481) K Teetan Shifted out abruptly at the start and made contact with FLYING BOOM when being corrected by its rider.
Horse No 14 MATSU VICTOR (H472) M Chadwick With the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time raced keenly.
