Los Angeles and Anmaat will lock horns again in what is expected to be a titanic tussle for Wednesday’s Group One Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (2,000m) at Royal Ascot.

The day two feature has gone to powerhouse trainer Aidan O’Brien on five occasions and three-time Group One winner Los Angeles is set to go off favourite for the middle-distance contest.

The Camelot colt is unbeaten in two starts this season, winning the Group Two Mooresbridge Stakes (2,000m) at the Curragh on reappearance before returning there to land the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup (2,000m).

Taking over 400m from home, Los Angeles looked a sitting duck for the smooth-travelling Anmaat, who tanked up menacingly and took a narrow lead heading into the final 200m.

Los Angeles refused to lie down, however, and was galvanised by Ryan Moore to retake the lead and edge on by half a length for a gutsy success.

Anmaat has won nine of his 16 career starts, including the Group One Champions Stakes (2,000m) at the course and distance last October.

There is a French flavour to the race, with Map Of Stars and Facteur Cheval making the journey across the Channel.

Francis-Henri Graffard’s Map Of Stars posted a career-best effort to come within a neck of landing the Group One Prix Ganay (2,000m) at Longchamp last start, lashing home in a slowly run race.

An honest gallop will suit him much better on just his eighth career start, while Facteur Cheval would also suit a true test.

Other hopefuls include John and Thady Gosden’s Ombudsman, who lost his unbeaten record on reappearance in the Group Three Brigadier Gerard Stakes (2,000m), and the supplemented filly See The Fire.

She was a remarkable 12-length winner of the Group Two Middleton Fillies’ Stakes (2,000m) last month and was a running-on fifth behind Anmaat in the Champion Stakes back in October.

There are three Group Two races on the card including the opening race, the 25-runner Group Two Queen Mary Stakes (1,000m).

Expensive purchase Zelaina is set to go off a red-hot favourite after making all impressively on racecourse debut at Nottingham. Her trainer Karl Burke has won the race twice in the past three years.

United States-based trainers have won the race four times in the past 10 years and Patrick Biancone’s Lennilu is flying the flag this year.

She is unbeaten in two starts and arrives on the back of a comfortable win in the Group Two Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Stakes (1,000m) at Gulfstream.

The Group Two Queen’s Vase (2,800m) is a wide-open affair but trainer Aidan O’Brien has dominated the staying prize in recent years.

He is tied with Hall Of Famer Sir Henry Cecil on eight wins but could go clear with Shackleton, who has been running well over 2,000m and is set to relish the step up in distance.

The Group Two Duke Of Cambridge Stakes (1,600m) is headlined by globetrotter Cinderella’s Dream, who won the Group One Belmont Oaks (1,800m) last season.

She was a four-and-a-half-length winner of the Group Two Dahlia Stakes (1,800m) on her British return and is the class act in the field.

She will clash with last year’s Group One Irish 1,000 Guineas (1,600m) winner Fallen Angel, who drops in grade and has first-time cheekpieces on.
