Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (689) - D'AGUILAR HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 CONFRINGO (J322) K C Leung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 SMILING EMPEROR (J371) H Bentley Shortly after the start made contact with MILES AWAY when crowded by APOLAR FIGHTER which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
In the early stages raced keenly and making the turn near the 1200 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from MILES AWAY.
Horse No 3 APOLAR FIGHTER (J169) Y L Chung Shifted in at the start, made contact with SMILING EMPEROR and became unbalanced when being corrected by its rider.
Leaving the 1200 Metres was steadied to avoid SMILING EMPEROR which shifted in after being steadied away from MILES AWAY.
Near the 600 Metres was bumped by U S S CONSTITUTION.
Horse No 4 WINDICATOR FAMILY (H419) M F Poon Near the 1400 Metres was steadied away from STERLING WONGCHOY.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 U S S CONSTITUTION (H357) K Teetan From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 600 Metres was steadied when disappointed for running between PERFECT PEACH and APOLAR FIGHTER and as a result made contact with APOLAR FIGHTER.
Horse No 7 VERBIER (J187) L Ferraris After the event L Ferraris stated that just prior to the start being effected his mount lunged forward and as a result jumped only fairly.
He said as a consequence he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to obtain the lead and this left VERBIER without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 PERFECT PEACH (E488) C L Chau Approaching the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of MEDIC ELITE to continue into clear running.
Horse No 9 STERLING WONGCHOY (H273) H Bowman Noted to have sustained a wound to the left hind fetlock after the race.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 MILES AWAY (J221) B Thompson Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters by SMILING EMPEROR and became unbalanced.
Horse No 12 MEDIC ELITE (G129) M L Yeung Near the 1400 Metres was steadied when crowded by WINDICATOR FAMILY which was taken in by STERLING WONGCHOY (H Bowman).
H Bowman was severely reprimanded.
After the event M L Yeung stated that from barrier 1 he was obliged to make some use of his mount in the early stages to hold an on-pace position, particularly with the race being run slightly inside of standard time.
He said in the Home Straight MEDIC ELITE responded to his riding only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sterling Wongchoy handed up to take the sit behind Verbier 1,300m out before reclaiming the lead 200m out and edging clear for a first win at his 15th start. Windicator Family had his chance after a one-off trip from better than midfield but found one too good on the night. It was another honest performance. Punted late Cool Blue ran on steadily for third after a rails run from midfield. He was able to back up a win last start. Perfect Peach just failed to get up for third near the inside after making his run five back on the fence. It was one of his better efforts this term at just his second ever start over the Valley 1,650m. Smiling Emperor made ground late near the outside for fifth after making his run outside Perfect Peach. He should find his mark shortly in the grade. Apolar Fighter ran on without threatening after making his run two from the rear. He's gone OK in both starts following a downgrade. Ninja Derby was yielding ground 100m out after sitting third in the run from gate 10. Favourite Verbier was on his tippy toes 150m out after clearing to the lead 1,300m out from gate 11. He went a bit too quick.
